  • Special conditions for DTV members for tourism study programmes at IU.
  • Measures to increase the attractiveness of tourism career paths in Germany.

Erfurt, 21 November 2022. On the occasion of the German Tourism Day in Mainz, the German Tourism Association (DTV) and IU International University of Applied Sciences (IU) sealed a joint educational partnership for the promotion of young talent and the qualification of specialists in the tourism industry.

With more than 100,000 students, IU is Germany's largest university. At the same time, it is one of the most popular German universities in the field of tourism with almost 2,500 students in tourism study programmes. Together with partners such as TUI, ACCOR, ADINA or Leonardo Hotels, IU trains young professionals in dual and part-time study models for the industry. Small and medium-sized hotels, travel agencies - and tour operators, event organisers or tourism management organisations, such as Thüringer Tourismus GmbH, Münsterland e.V or the city of Worms also find and develop skilled workers with IU in the practice-oriented model.

Making tourism careers more attractive

The new cooperation between the DTV and IU offers all direct and indirect members of the DTV special conditions at IU. These special conditions are not limited to tourism study programmes. In addition, both cooperation partners have committed themselves in their cooperation agreement to develop and implement measures to increase the attractiveness of tourism career paths in Germany.
