IUBH STUDY PROVES: DISTANCE LEARNING PROMOTES CAREER AND QUALITY OF LIFE

Erfurt, 25 March 2020 – With the "Trend Study Distance Learning ", the IUBH International University of Applied Sciences surveyed almost 5,000 current and former distance learning students as well as prospective students about their wishes and experiences before and during their studies. Of particular interest are the effects that come along with a successful graduation: To what extent do graduates benefit financially after graduation? And how do the skills gained through study affect personal development?

Distance learning pays off: higher salary, more attractive tasks, better promotion prospects

With a degree in their pocket, more than half of the respondents (60%) who had already completed a distance learning programme were able to earn a higher income. For 51%, salaries rose sharply, i.e. by more than 20%. For almost one-third, income increased by more than 10%, while about 20% stated that they now earn up to 10% more money.

In addition, a generally positive development can be seen among distance learners with a degree: More than 65% were assigned more attractive tasks in their job thanks to their degree. For 43%, there were better opportunities for promotion and 40% were given more management responsibility.

A good investment for private life, too

In addition to the obvious advantages for professional development, distance learners clearly benefit in the personal sphere: almost one third of the respondents stated that their private life had improved as a result of their degree. A full 76% of this group could see a higher self-confidence in themselves, 69% described distance learning as an intellectual enrichment. As many as 48% of the respondents were happy about a higher standard of living, thanks to greater personal balance and more joie de vivre. It is therefore not surprising that a proud 80% of the participants were satisfied during or after distance learning.

Conclusion: Whether professionally or privately - distance learning has a clear added value for the majority of those surveyed. Thanks to newly acquired qualifications, new opportunities and possibilities arise in the job, while income has increased for more than half of the graduates. In terms of personal development, about a third of distance learners also benefit after graduation. More than three quarters of this group are happy about their increased self-confidence and feel intellectually enriched and more balanced – with more zest for life.
