NOTHING IS IMPOSSIBLE – CORONA!

DISCUSSION PAPER ON THE ECONOMIC PSYCHOLOGY PERSPECTIVE ON THE COVI 19 CRISIS PUBLISHED

Erfurt, 01 April 2020 – A novel Covid 19 virus first threatens the Chinese metropolis of Wu-Han - and shortly afterwards causes a pandemic that overtakes all continents and countries somewhat unprepared. In order to inhibit the spread of the virus and relieve the respective health systems, governments all over the world are forced to impose restrictions on social life.

What does this mean for the population and how is the reaction to going out restrictions, closed shops and no visits? This is what IUBH professor and business psychologist Prof Dr Julia Pitters investigates in her new discussion paper "Nothing is impossible - Corona!". Using Austria as an example, she examines how the crisis was first perceived, which communication strategies are used to motivate citizens to comply with the rules and why some people react to the current situation with supposedly irrational actions.
