Speed up your studies with LinkedIn Learning

LinkedIn Learning can now be credited for studies at IU

  • From now on, selected learning paths on LinkedIn Learning can be credited with ECTS at IU International University of Applied Sciences (IU)
  • Due to this recognition, further education pays off on LinkedIn: A course of study can actually be compressed at IU and even become discounted when taken up
  • The cooperation starts with seven learning paths for a total of 16 degree courses at IU and will be successively expanded.

Erfurt, 28 October 2021 - Thanks to a new cooperation, continuing education now pays off in two ways: Users who complete courses and complete select learning paths on LinkedIn Learning can now have their work translated into academic credits (ECTS) at IU International University of Applied Sciences (IU). With proof from LinkedIn and an additional test at IU, users receive 5 ECTS for the entire learning pathway. This is equivalent to one module in a bachelor’s degree study. Those who apply to study at IU will have the duration of their studies reduced accordingly, and the costs will also be reduced. This saves students time and money. Students who are already enrolled at IU can also receive credits for a module and graduate more quickly.

„The acceptance of online learning shows how great the interest in education is and what role digital tools play. As one of the leading higher education institutions, we want to take advantage of new opportunities to make education easy and to enable as many people as possible to complete a degree. Education should always pay off," says Carolin Kreuder, COO Strategic Partnerships & Upskilling at IU.

LinkedIn Learning is the learning platform of the social network LinkedIn. LinkedIn Learning currently contains almost 17,000 courses in seven languages. The courses vary from short videos to entire lectures and are grouped into individual learning paths. To receive credit for ECTS, users must have completed a learning pathway from LinkedIn. There are currently seven learning paths on LinkedIn, in German and in English, which can be credited for a total of 16 Bachelor's degree courses at IU. Learning paths include SEO, SEA, database programming and user experience design, corresponding to the Bachelor's degree courses in Digital Business, Computer Science, Game Design, Marketing, New Work and Applied Psychology. This initiative plans to be further expanded, and new learning paths and study courses, which can be credited, will follow.
