BACHELOR OF ENGINEERING CIVIL ENGINEERING (B.ENG.)
As one of the oldest and most future-proof industries, the challenges facing the construction industry today are sustainability and climate protection. New materials and new technologies need to be used efficiently. Whether constructing a residential building, a bridge or an industrial plant, civil engineers are particularly in demand to tackle new projects with scientific and analytical know-how and team spirit. This is because they always work closely with the most diverse entities such as architects, building owners and authorities. In addition to mathematical and technical understanding, leadership and organisational skills, as well as solution-oriented thinking, are therefore of great importance in order to succeed in the construction industry. These are all soft skills that you will acquire during your part-time study programme in Civil Engineering.
In the Civil Engineering part-time degree programme, you will receive in-depth training in the fundamentals of engineering. You will learn the fundamentals of mechanics and building materials, as well as topics such as the construction of load-bearing structures, operating efficiency and energy- and resource-saving construction practices. At the same time, you will keep an eye on the latest developments in Building Information Modelling - with the buzzword Construction Industry 4.0. You will have the opportunity to specialise in an area that particularly interests you, such as Project Management in Construction or Constructive Structural Engineering.

CONTENTS OF THE PART-TIME DEGREE PROGRAMME IN CIVIL ENGINEERING
In the Civil Engineering part-time degree programme, you will learn all the mathematical, scientific as well as technical fundamentals and basic knowledge of construction technology that you need in the civil engineering sector. In addition, you will also learn soft skills which are important in the everyday work of a civil engineer. After your studies, for example, you will be able to define requirements for construction projects, create structural and operational solutions and thereby evaluate construction projects in terms of their operating efficiency, design aspects like energy- and resource-saving construction.
The bachelor's degree programme in Civil Engineering is modular, which means that you study based on subject areas that are divided into so-called “modules”. Within these modules, there is sometimes an introductory course and an in-depth course that systematically prepare you for the completion of the module. You will receive ECTS points (European Credit Transfer System) for each successful completion, which document your achievements. These ECTS points are internationally comparable and of course, recognised.
Please note: due to the fact that the study programmes offered on this website are in German, all of the information material and communications will be in the German language, and not in English.

PRACTICAL PROJECT CIVIL ENGINEERING
To obtain the Bachelor of Engineering degree in Civil Engineering, you have to complete three practical projects each with a total of 5 ECTS (150 hours each) in the areas of "Construction Site and Building Materials", "Construction Site and Surveying" and "Planning Bureau". All three practical projects can be completed immediately after the start of your degree course, but it is recommended that you plan at least the two practical projects "Construction Site and Building Materials" and "Construction Site and Surveying" at the beginning of your degree programme. You have the possibility to gather your practical experience in construction companies, construction technology laboratories, engineering offices, special authorities or with construction experts. However, the institution must be approved by the university.
Here you can find all the questions and answers about your practical project in the Civil Engineering degree programme.
RECOGNITION OF PREVIOUS ACHIEVEMENTS
If you have completed an apprenticeship, advanced training, subject-specific work experience or even a previous degree, you have the opportunity to have these credits recognised. With the recognition of your previous academic achievements, you not only save valuable time, but also money - a total of 30 euros per recognised ECTS point.
