IU International University of Applied Sciences gains a place in TOP 100 Germany's Best Employers

Erfurt, 13 April 2021 - IU International University of Applied Sciences has received an award from Great Place to Work® in the competition "Germany's Best Employers 2021”. This makes the university one of the TOP 100 best employers in Germany. The exact ranking will be announced at the online awards event on May 5th.

Flexible structures, trust and excellent support

"We are very pleased to have been awarded by Great Place to Work® and it confirms the innovative and agile orientation of the university, both for the students and in a special way for the employees," says Tim Kaltenborn, Head of HR at IU.

Kaltenborn emphasises: "In times like these, the responsibility of the employer to take care of its employees is of particular importance. At IU, more than 70% of the employees have been working constantly in home office since the beginning of the pandemic - and thanks to flexible structures, trust in our employees and excellent IT support, this works very well. In addition to various newly created offerings for virtual socialising and enabling remote onboarding, the university also makes Corona self-testing available to all employees, both at the campuses and at home. In order to continue to manage our way through the pandemic in the best manner possible, we as an employer want to take every opportunity to mitigate this pandemic, in addition to our hygiene approach that is already in place."

Various virtual offers for employees

Starting with yoga, learning lunches, coffee breaks and guided relaxation breaks to get-to-know-you events for New Faces, there is something for everyone. This addresses, among other things, the physical and mental challenges that working in a home office may entail.

“We believe that the importance of the workplace will change after Corona, and we are currently preparing everything to ensure that our employees can choose their workplace as flexibly as possible after the pandemic, and that our offices and campus locations offer places for collaboration and networking", Kaltenborn explains. "Like for our students, it is important to us that working at the IU International University can be as self-determined as possible."

The "Great Place to Work® Certified" certification programme of the international research and consulting institute stands for outstanding engagement in creating workplace culture and is awarded, among other things, on the basis of an employee survey.

IU International University of Applied Sciences has already received several awards as an employer, besides Great Place to Work® also by the FAZ Institute and Kununu.
