THE BEST COMPANIES FOR WOMEN 2021 - IU IS AMONG THEM
BEST GRADES IN FLEXIBILITY AND WOMEN EMPOWERMENT
Erfurt, 12 October 2021. IU International University of Applied Sciences was mentioned as part of the BRIGITTE employer study 2021: "The best companies for women". In the categories "flexibility of work" and "women's power", IU scored five out of five points in each case and is thus among the 179 best of almost 300 participating companies.
While in the academic field the university focuses on making its offers for students and studies as flexible and individual as possible, it also pursues these goals in the everyday working lives of its employees. Hybrid working models and, in most administrative areas, the possibility of working entirely from a home office are particularly attractive for employees with families. On the other hand, working together and personal exchange also play a major role. In the coming months, all offices will be converted to flexwork concepts, but at the same time more "social spaces" will be integrated and shared and individual workplaces will be set up.
Tim Kaltenborn, Director People Organisation & Culture at IU, says: "Flexibility and adaptation to the needs of our employees help us to find the right talent to meet the growing demand for IU's offerings with consistently high quality."
Achieving full marks in the "Women's Empowerment" category did not surprise Tim Kaltenborn: "At IU, 58.5 per cent of managers are female - almost twice as many as the national average. In terms of the proportion of female professors, we are also ahead of the average of 25 per cent female professors at German universities, at 38 per cent. The proportion of women in the company as a whole is even just under 65 per cent". Kaltenborn emphasises: "We want to be among the best companies for all our employees, whether diverse, female or male - and in the long term, not only across Germany".
