LARGE-SCALE IUBH PROJECT LOOKS FOR OPPORTUNITIES IN THE CORONA CRISIS FOR TOURISM

TOURISM SERVICE PROVIDERS WANTED FOR PARTICIPATION

Erfurt, 17 April 2020 – IUBH International University of Applied Sciences is also dealing with the consequences of the Corona pandemic and a practicable way of dealing with the crisis. To this end, twelve professors of tourism and marketing management are currently preparing a large-scale semester project entitled "#Rethinking Tourism – Opportunities in the Crisis" at ten IUBH locations throughout Germany, including Dortmund. The project is primarily aimed at tourism organisations (DMOs) and tourism service providers, such as travel agencies, tour operators or businesses in the hotel and catering industry. The aim is to work together with students to find creative and practicable solutions for overcoming the Corona crisis. Students from the IUBH Dortmund location under the direction of Prof Dr Neumann are also involved in the project and are looking for service providers who would like to actively participate in the project and work together with the students.

In the course of the semester, the respective conditions and results will be analysed, but also best practices for innovative products and concepts as well as marketing and communication ideas will be identified and new ones developed.

The project results are made available to the tourism industry in a timely manner at regular intervals and in different formats in a blog. Various formats such as podcasts, original sounds, videos, presentations or online meetings are used for this purpose. A continuation and subsequent use of the content beyond the semester should also be made possible.

The blog is intended to be a point of contact for the tourism industry while it is still being created, in which creative approaches to overcoming crises are presented.
