NEW STUDY MODEL SUCCESSFULLY LAUNCHED

WITH MYSTUDIUM, IU INTERNATIONAL UNIVERSITY OF APPLIED SCIENCES MAKES THE CLASSIC STUDY PROGRAMME MO

myStudium is a new study model at IU that makes modular study much more flexible.

• The offer was developed to adapt higher education more closely to the wishes and needs of a new generation.

• The programme started with more than 600 students in five study programmes and at three locations as well as virtually.

Erfurt, 11 October 2021. A new study offer has been launched at IU International University of Applied Sciences for the winter semester of 2021: myStudium makes it easy to switch between courses in attendance and virtual seminars and tutorials. Students can choose when to study their chosen subject online or when to switch to a campus. It is also possible to move to a new location within the study programme without any problems. This means that, for the first time, students are truly location-independent without having to completely forego face-to-face teaching. According to the modular principle, courses within a degree programme can be taken on campus or online. Videos, interactive scripts and Learn apps support students in successfully completing their studies in a way that fits their life situation.

A survey conducted by IU among 3,800 students and prospective students showed that around three quarters want to decide for themselves how often they attend face-to-face events at a campus. "As a private university, it is part of our DNA to respond dynamically to the needs of our students. With myStudium, we have developed a study format that is primarily geared to the desire to study even more flexibly and not to commit to one location from the outset," says Prof. Dr. Holger Sommerfeldt, Rector of IU.

In the first year of myStudium, more than 600 students will start in October at the IU campuses in Hamburg, Berlin and Cologne as well as the virtual campus. At the beginning, there are five degree programmes to choose from. Psychology is the most popular, followed by social work, marketing, media design and business studies. Other locations and degree programmes are to follow, for example in the fields of childhood education, business informatics and business psychology. At around 350 euros per month, myStudium is a low-cost study model. Students benefit from small study groups, individual coaching and lecturers with practical experience. The programme starts every quarter and there is no numerus clausus.
