Why you should study Culinary Management

A degree programme can be worthwhile for you if you are simply interested in a specific subject. But beyond that, a degree can be important for your career path. It will open up many career opportunities for you, the demand for highly qualified workers continues to grow, university graduates often earn more and sometimes only a degree can lead to a certain career goal. Apart from that, you will expand your own horizons and invest in your own education with the specialist knowledge and soft skills you’ll acquire; and that is of enormous importance in times of lifelong learning.

This is what your Culinary Management studies at IU look like

With your degree in Culinary Management, you will gain the theoretical and practical experience you need. You will learn important business basics in order to successfully plan and calculate complete events, conferences or gastronomic offers. After successfully completing it, you will be able to creatively implement presentation and kitchen concepts and use kitchen technologies correctly. In addition, there are many other topics on your student menu, such as nutrition, marketing and human resources management; all with the aim of training you to become an independent, responsible manager.

A look into the future: What you will be able to do after graduating

Host, manager, creative mind: with your Bachelor’s degree in Culinary Management, you’ll be ready for a career in hotel management, in the food industry or in gastronomy. For example, you’ll calculate budgets, design the menu and coordinate food purchasing. As a professional in the field of food & beverage, you’ll pass on your knowledge to employees and trainees. You will also work with all departments of a hotel or restaurant. The challenge here is to always find the right balance between the wishes of the guests, the sensitivities of your employees and the economic interests of the business
