IU Professor Katharina Peinemann voted third-best tutor of 2025
Distance learning students have voted: “Tutor of the Year 2025”
The Federal Association of Distance Learning Providers, together with Fernstudium Direkt, launched a large online vote as part of the "Education. Digital. Networked." study award.
Erfurt, 25 September 2024. The Federal Association of Distance Learning Providers, together with Fernstudium Direkt, launched a large online vote as part of the "Education. Digital. Networked." study award. Distance learners could first nominate their favourite tutors and then support them with a click of a mouse. Katharina Peinemann, Professor of Social Work at IU International University of Applied Sciences, was ranked third, tied with Rick Maschke, a tutor at the Maschke Academy. Can Karaarslan from the Hamburg Distance Learning University secured first place. The award recognises the special dedication, expertise, and support of the tutors who have particularly enriched the learning path of distance learners.
"The third-place award is a wonderful confirmation of my work and motivation to always give my best. In my work, I attach great importance to imparting knowledge in an understandable and practical way, creating an inspiring learning environment, and supporting and encouraging my students on their individual educational paths," says Prof. Dr Katharina Peinemann.
The competition was fierce: A total of 70 nominated tutors, including 14 from IU International University of Applied Sciences, competed for more than 3,000 votes in the online voting. "Based on their nominations alone, they are all among Germany's most popular tutors," said Mirco Fretter, President of the German Association of Distance Learning Providers. The voting remained exciting until the very end. Ultimately, the average score achieved through positive evaluation statements determined the ranking.

Prof. Dr Katharina Peinemann
has been working as a tutor in the Department of Social Work at IU International University of Applied Sciences since 2022. With her comprehensive academic and practical expertise, she supports students in exploring the complex topics of social work. In her free time, Prof. Dr Peinemann enjoys traveling and engaging in sports.
