IUBH STUDENTS CONVINCE JURY WITH INNOVATIVE BLOG ON COVID CRISIS
Nominated for the German Tourism Award: The jury of experts of the German Tourism Association (DTV) has chosen the project "#Rethinking Tourism" of IUBH International University of Applied Sciences as one of the five most innovative projects in Germany Tourism 2020. More than 200 IUBH students and professors convinced the jury with their approach to use the COVID crisis as an opportunity and promote networking within the tourism industry by means of their own blog. "#Rethinking Tourism" is one of a total of 158 competition participants, of which only five were nominated. The winners are to be announced later this year.
IUBH also enters the race for the audience award
Erfurt, 29 October 2020 - The German Tourism Association nominated the project for this year's German Tourism Award , which annually honours forward-looking projects in German tourism. This year, the focus is on projects, products and measures to secure the future of German tourism in times of the COVID crisis. "The German Tourism Award is one of the most important awards in the German tourism industry, and a nomination here is equivalent to a knighthood," the two project leaders Prof. Dr. Peter Neumann and Prof. Dr. Felix Wölfle are delighted to say.
In addition to the jury awards, an audience award will also be presented. Internet users can vote for their favourite starting on 5 November and cast their vote at www.deutschertourismuspreis.de . The project receiving the most votes in the online voting will win the race for the audience award. "With our student project, we now have the chance to win one of the three jury awards or the audience award," says Lea Cara Lange, dual student at IUBH.
#Rethinking Tourism enables discussing solutions out of the COVID Crisis
Networking is very important in the #Rethinking Tourism project. Thus, with the help of the large number of individual projects, the project covers the entire range of the tourism industry. Texts and multimedia blog contributions inspire the desire for creativity and innovation in tourism. Tourism professionals from all sectors and of all company sizes are invited to follow suit. The students' ideas and solutions will be presented to tourism professionals on the public blog www.umdenken-im-tourismus.de as well as on social media such as Facebook, Instagram, YouTube and Spotify. Last but not least, the project also serves a practice-oriented tourism education by teaching young professionals to act courageously and creatively in times of crisis.
