VODAFONE BECOMES IU PARTNER

Partners Cooperate to Train young people in information and communications technology.

  • From 2022, Vodafone will cooperate with IU International University of Applied Sciences (IU).
  • The telecommunications group is offering 60 industry placements for dual students throughout Germany.
  • Special focus is on study programmes in the fields of IT and technology.

Erfurt, 21 December 2021 - Vodafone will be a new industry partner of IU International University of Applied Sciences (IU) for dual studies. Starting in the summer semester of 2022, the company and the university will cooperate to train and recruit skilled workers. Vodafone will provide up to 60 industry placements per year for dual students at IU in following study programmes: Computer Sciences, Business Informatics, Industrial Engineering and Electrical Engineering. This makes the company one of IU's largest industry partners.

Michael Kästner, COO Dual Studies at IU says: "IT and technology courses are becoming increasingly popular in the dual study model. The aim of the educational cooperation with Vodafone is to train specialists in future-oriented professions. As one of Germany's leading digital groups, Vodafone is an attractive partner for attracting students to the market of the future."

According to Vodafone, the decisive factors for the decision in favour of IU were its high location density, flexibility, and customer orientation, as well as the split-week rotation. Students rotate between the partner company and campus on a semi-weekly basis. This enables close ties to the company and a direct exchange between theory and practice. The virtual campus also guarantees location-independent study.

Starting in the summer semester of 2022, the cooperation with Vodafone will be offered at the locations in Düsseldorf, Frankfurt, Munich, Berlin, Stuttgart, Hanover, Hamburg, and Nuremberg, as well as at IU’s virtual campus. It is planned to expand the offer for more locations. Interested parties can already apply for the semester start in April 2022. Further information is available online on the Vodafone career pages.
