IU as an AI pioneer in the education sector at the Microsoft AI Tour 2024

Erfurt, 28 October 2024. At the opening keynote of the Microsoft AI Tour 2024 in Berlin, Satya Nadella, Chairman and CEO of Microsoft, presented examples of the use of artificial intelligence in German companies. As example for the use of AI in the education sector, he highlighted the IU International University of Applied Sciences (IU) as a pioneer in Germany. 

The AI learning assistant Syntea has been in use at IU since October 2023, providing individual and personalised learning support for online studies. Syntea was developed by IU for students and uses the Azure OpenAI service. In the future, the learning assistant will also be available to students at the IU Copilot School featuring Microsoft in Microsoft 365 Copilot

The IU Copilot School was founded in June 2024 and combines academic education with the teaching of AI skills. Through the future integration of Syntea into Microsoft 365 Copilot, students will also acquire valuable AI skills such as AI prompting and data analysis.

IU Group joins Allianz für KI-Kompetenz in Deutschland 

At the AI event, which took place at the CityCube in Berlin, Agnes Heftberger, Corporate Vice President and CEO of Microsoft Germany, together with Satya Nadella, launched the ‘Allianz für KI-Kompetenz in Deutschland’. The aim of this initiative is to strengthen the German economy through a joint further training offensive in the field of artificial intelligence and to give employees access to necessary AI skills in order to secure Germany's innovation and competitiveness. 

The IU Group, the parent company of IU International University of Applied Sciences, has already joined the ‘Allianz für KI-Kompetenz in Deutschland’.
