The profession of social worker is very multidimensional. At the same time, it is important to always keep both human and economic aspects in mind. You would like to support people in crisis situations, for example in debt counselling or addiction counselling, help refugees to find their way around when they first arrive in Germany? Do you want to look after people with disabilities or organise leisure activities for young people and introduce them to new perspectives?
Our myStudium degree programme in Soziale Arbeit (B.A.) prepares you for this by teaching you not only the technical and methodological skills of social work, but also the basics of business administration. After graduation, you will be able to take on tasks as a specialist and later as a manager within social institutions, social enterprises or social administration.
Students of the myStudium degree programme in Social Work are awarded the title of State-recognised Social Worker or State-recognised Social Pedagogue if they successfully complete the Social Work Practice Project (internship).

In the Social Work bachelor's degree programme, we will provide you with expert knowledge from the field of social work and combine this with basic knowledge of business administration.
Our Bachelor's degree programme is modular. This means that you study different subject areas, which are divided into so-called "modules". Within these modules, there is usually an introductory course and an in-depth course that systematically prepare you for the completion of the module. Within the modules, you receive ECTS points (European Credit Transfer System) for each successful completion, which are a record of your achievements. These ECTS points are internationally comparable and of course, internationally recognised. We also value the optimal combination of theory and practice, which is why studying social work will offer you many advantages in your everyday life.
Electives: In Electives A, B and C, you choose two elective modules each. Elective D: Decide at the beginning of your studies between an internship at a company or all modules from Elective D. You complete the internship with a written reflection. If you choose the modules from Elective D, all modules from this elective must be completed. Mixed forms between the internship and Elective D are not possible.

Praxisbezug im myStudium Soziale Arbeit
Um den Titel Staatlich anerkannte:r Sozialpädagog:in zu erhalten, ist neben dem Studium ein Anerkennungspraktikum erforderlich. Dieses Praxisprojekt umfasst mindestens 100 Tage und mindestens 600 Arbeitsstunden, die Du in einer sozialen Einrichtung Deiner Wahl absolvieren kannst. Zudem benötigst Du ein erweitertes Führungszeugnis.
Das myStudium Soziale Arbeit zeichnet sich durch einen starken Theorie-Praxis-Transfer aus. Im Rahmen von Fallstudien lernst Du, theoretische Inhalte auf praktische Situationen zu übertragen und führst eigene Forschungsprojekte durch. Weitere Instrumente der Sozialen Arbeit wendest Du in verschiedenen Kursen an, um Dein professionelles Handeln zu verbessern. Der Austausch zwischen Lehrenden und Studierenden sowie die gemeinsame Selbstreflexion im Rahmen der professionellen Identitätsbildung sind zentrale Elemente des Studiums.
