Frequently asked questions

The next possible start for your myStudies is on July 1st in Berlin, Hamburg and Cologne. If you want to study independently of location or only want to move to one of these cities in the second or third semester, you can start our German programmes on the virtual campus without any problems. 

In myStudies, there is a range of German-language and English-language bachelor's and master's degree programs:

Anyone with a valid university entrance qualification to study in Germany can apply. You can find all the details about the admission requirements for your chosen degree programme on its details page. 

You can apply for myStudies as of now. The next start date is October 1st 2022. Since you can start every quarter, you can also start on January 1st 2023, April 1st 2023 or July 1st 2023.

No problem - it's the same for many people. Simply contact our study advisors by e-mail or telephone. Our experienced colleagues are available to talk to you personally and support you in your decision. 

When you apply, you indicate which campus you would like to study at. You can also choose our virtual campus and change to a location later. If you move during your studies, you can easily change locations during your studies. 

On our page on tuition fees and financing you will find all the information you need about financing your studies. If you have any questions, a personal study advisor will be happy to help you at any time. 

If you move during your studies, you can easily change your location during your studies. It is also possible to change between locations and the virtual campus, for example, if you want to stay at home for the first semester. 

Classroom events take place 2-3 days per week during the day. The exact days and times depend on the location and study programme and will be communicated to you before the start of your studies. 

In myStudies there is no compulsory attendance. Even if you decide on a location, you don't necessarily have to travel to your campus for the events. Thanks to great online material, you can easily catch up on missed events - but the fun with your fellow students on campus is unbeatable.

Exams take place several times a year. Each semester consists of two blocks in which you take three courses in parallel. After each of these blocks, you complete the attendance phase with exams. This ensures that your knowledge is fresh and that there is less exam stress at the end of the semester due to the distributed exam phases. 

myStudies adapts to your life, even if you are temporarily away from Germany. Semesters abroad are not a fixed part of the curriculum, but can be easily integrated due to the unbeatable flexibility. This means you can continue your studies at the IU from anywhere. 

In order to use the virtual campus, you need a PC with an internet connection or other suitable internet-capable devices. The provision of the necessary technical devices is not included in the tuition fees, but you will receive a free iPad if you enrol during our promotional period. This also gives you access to your learning tools anytime and anywhere.  

In order to be able to use the virtual campus to its full extent, we recommend the following minimum system equipment:

A part-time job is perfectly compatible with myStudies. Since the classroom lectures take place 2-3 days a week, you can always plan to have free days for a parallel job. 

Regardless of whether you choose a location or the virtual campus, there is always a group feeling. Within your degree programme, you move closely with your fellow students through the joint courses and can also talk to your lecturers personally at any time. While you have direct contact at the location, at the virtual campus you have many opportunities for digital exchange with interactive video conferences or channels on various topics. 

Unfortunately, we cannot currently offer you a semester ticket. As a student at IU International University, however, you have the opportunity to purchase a discounted season ticket in most cities, which you can use for your public transport journeys. As a student at IU, you also benefit from many other advantages, such as discounts for Spotify, Amazon Prime, Microsoft Office 365 or Statista. You can find a list of all your benefits here.

Yes! Every degree programme in myStudies is accredited and state-recognised. 

There are now over 75,000 people studying at IU. We have years of experience excellent feedback from our students, whether in distance learning, part-time or dual studies. We are only successful when our students are successful. 

IU enjoys a high reputation and is regularly tested and evaluated. Our students recommend us 96% - that speaks for itself and we are very proud of that. Through innovative teaching methods and study programmes, we optimally prepare our students for a successful career start. 

Students who apply for a dual degree are awarded two graduation certificates once they complete their studies - a German certificate from IU International University of Applied Sciences, and a British certificate from London South Bank University (hereinafter referred to as LSBU).

The degree acquired from LSBU is not related to IU International University of Applied Sciences in any way. LSBU alone is responsible for issuing the British graduation certificate, and IU acts solely as the mediator between the student and the University. IU has no influence on how LSBU decide to award its certificates.

Upon successful completion of the student’s studies at IU International University of Applied Sciences, we transmit the information and documents to LSBU, who – pending completion of all prerequisites by the student – issue the British graduation certificate.

• Select Application for British Degree Certificate (LSBU) via the application management of your myCampus profile.
• Add your Dual Degree within the first six months of your studies via the application form in myCampus for €750.
• Receive your dual degree and thus the academic degree (UK) directly from LSBU.

Dual degree students enjoy the same educational process as any other IU International University of Applied Sciences student, and there are no further demands or tasks that need to be done outside of your studies at IU. LSBU extensively and regularly examines our study programmes, in order to ensure that students who complete their studies at IU International University of Applied Sciences are eligible for a British degree as well.

Students who successfully complete their studies at IU International University of Applied Sciences, and have applied for Dual Studies, are therefore eligible for a certificate from LSBU as well – without any extra modules or exams.

With a dual degree, students earn an additional internationally recognised degree, without having to complete any further courses or perform any studies at any other university but IU International University of Applied Sciences.

Having both degrees on your CV can greatly improve your career prospects.

Upon successful completion of all academic duties required to earn your degree, your information and documents will be submitted by us to LSBU. This initiates the process of issuing your British certificate, which you will receive no later than 12 months after graduating from IU International University of Applied Sciences.

Please note: LSBU only awards graduation certificates twice a year. Due to that fact, you might receive your British certificate only several months after graduating from IU International University of Applied Sciences.
