After your Abitur is before your career

As a university, IU deliberately does not require an NC. Here you can simply study what interests you most and what suits your talents best, regardless of your grade point average. Studying without an NC is a very important matter for us, helping you study at your preferred destination.   

A Bachelor's degree is an undergraduate degree that is a prerequisite for a Master's degree. With a Bachelor's degree, you already have access to the labour market with professional qualifications, but with a Master's degree you can deepen your knowledge in a specific field even further. The Bachelor's degree usually takes 3-4 years, while the Master's takes 1-2 years (depending on ECTS). Both degrees are completed with a Bachelor's or Master's thesis.

Studies at IU take 24, 36, 48 or 72 months, depending on which time model and degree you choose. If you need more time and semesters for your studies, it will not be a problem. 

Absolutely. To take a break from your studies, we offer you the option of a semester off in the myStudies and distance learning study models. During this time, your studies will be suspended and you will have no access to the online campus or your learning materials. However, we will not charge any fees during your leave of absence.    

A leave of absence is possible from the second semester onwards. In total, the leave of absence may not exceed half of the standard period of study of your degree programme (e.g. for a six-semester Bachelor's programme, a maximum of three semesters of leave).

Studying at IU, you will benefit from innovative teaching concepts and learning tools such as the online campus, digital scripts, learning videos, interactive quizzes, the free app IU Learn and online exams. In our interactive online events, you will be able to deepen your knowledge live under the guidance of experienced lecturers and then directly clarify open questions or interact with the rest of the course. These events take place in the evening so that they are compatible with your professional life.  

You can also organise everything related to your studies on our online campus: course registration, exam booking, grade overview... As a learning platform, myCampus also offers you your online library, versatile learning tools and various opportunities to network with students or teachers.
