DUAL STUDIES AT IU
HOW IT WORKS

Combining practice and theory in an optimal way - that's what our dual study programme stands for. Find out exactly how it works here.

Dual studies

STUDY OR WORK? JUST DO BOTH!

In the dual study programme at IU, the practical part is firmly integrated into your studies. You don't work "on the side", but work is an integral part of your studies. It is important to us that you can optimally combine both sides - the theory at IU and the practice in the company. What does this mean for you? You can always apply your newly acquired knowledge directly in practice and, conversely, discuss current issues from your everyday working life in the lectures. The best to kickstart your career.

STUDY MODEL

In the dual study programme at the IU, you regularly alternate between theory at IU and practice in the company. You take your exams at the end of each semester. We offer different time models depending on the course of study and the practice partner - a weekly alternation or a split week. Just ask our student advisory service about it.

WEEKLY ALTERNATION

You alternate between theory and practice every week; so you study on campus one week and work 40 hours at your practice partner the next week.

SPLIT WEEK

You study half of the week and work for your practice partner the other half. Each week you have a working time of 20 hours.

DISCOVER YOUR BENEFITS

Joint search for a practice partner, lessons in small groups or the highest quality of teaching: Find out here what benefits the IU offers you.

WHAT IS A DUAL STUDY PROGRAMME

A dual study programme is a higher education programme in which work in a company is an integral part of the academic training.

PRIVATE STUDIES FOR €0

Studying privately sounds expensive? Not with us. Because at IU, your practice partner pays your tuition fees.

What our graduates say

The weekly change at IU appealed to me in contrast to the three-monthly rhythm because then there is no rut and you can also build up a life in a city.
