YOUR DUAL STUDIES PROGRAMME MEDIENDESIGN (B.A.)
Your dual study program in media design will teach you how to communicate information and messages creatively. It covers both the analog and digital preparation and transmission of content and equips you with knowledge of relevant tools and strategies. In the dual study program in media design, you will become an expert in web design, cross-media strategies, video editing and app development. DEGREE, ACCREDITATION AND RECOGNITION
Degree: B.A.
System Accredited. IU is state-recognized and system-accredited by FIBAA. All degree programs are individually accredited and thus bear the seal of the Accreditation Council.
* Subject to state recognition of the degree programmes and approval of the Chemnitz branch by the Free State of Saxony. We expect the approvals of the ministries at the latest at the start of the studies. To date, all IU International University programmes have been successfully accredited and approved on time.

You can complete your Bachelor's degree in Mediendesign in one of our two study models, depending on the study location: The dual study programme or the dual myStudium. Content of the dual study program in media design
In the dual study program in media design, you will learn how to harmoniously combine form and content and use the latest software tools professionally. This course covers scientific, technical and design fundamentals and prepares you for a career in print, online, mobile media, photography, video, presentation and animation. From the very first semester, you will work on projects for your design portfolio. Depending on your specialization, you will become a specialist in cross-media design or interaction design and also gain valuable business knowledge.

Media Designer
As a media designer, you will design analogue media such as posters, magazines or brochures and digital media such as websites. As an expert, you are responsible for the visual concept, creative ideas and implementation. You will often work in a team with editors, photographers, programmers and print production.
Activities: Designing innovative designs and creative concepts, selecting and editing exciting visual material, working in a creative team
Fields of application: Graphic design offices, advertising and media agencies, publishing houses
Necessary skills: Creativity, mastery of graphic design software and technologies, communication and teamwork skills
Interaction-Designer
As an interaction designer, you are responsible for the visual design and implementation of digital user interfaces. This includes the creation of screen designs, animations, sound and social media content. You will work closely with programmers. In your day-to-day work, you will have many opportunities to utilise your creativity and design talent. At the same time, you will ensure that information is presented in a structured and understandable way to enable users to interact intuitively with the medium.
Activities: Developing concepts for interactive product and service experiences, creating wireframes and prototypes for user interfaces, conducting user tests and analysing user behaviour
Fields of application: Designer agencies and IT companies, in-house design teams of large companies and start-ups and digital agencies
Necessary skills: Creativity and innovative spirit, analytical thinking and problem-solving skills, good understanding of user needs, knowledge of UX design and interaction concepts
UX-/UI-Designer
UX/UI design combines classic design disciplines with modern technology, including augmented, mixed and virtual reality. As a UX/UI designer, you will work at the interface between static content, moving images and 3D visualisation. Your task is to translate information, messages and stories into eye-catching visualisations that surprise and inspire users. Applications can be found across all industries, from retail, services and education to culture.
Activities: Conducting user research and analysing user needs, conceptualising and designing the user interface and interaction processes, creating wireframes, prototypes and user flows
Areas of application: Digital agencies and design studios, in-house design teams of large companies, start-ups and technology companies
Necessary skills: Creativity, analytical thinking, knowledge of UX design, interaction design and user research, experience with design and prototyping tools
