
Deutschlandstipendium for IU students
Secure €300 per month: Deutschlandstipendium promotes achievement and commitment. Apply to IU International University of Applied Sciences (IU) – regardless of your study format.
What is the Deutschlandstipendium?
With the Deutschlandstipendium, the Federal Government supports particularly talented and high-achieving students.
The funding amounts to 300€ per month:
150€ covered by the federal government.
150€ provided by private sponsors - for example commercial organisations, foundations, associations or other private individuals.
What and who is funded?
All Bachelor's and Master's degree programmes are eligible for funding.

the degree programme
the number of semesters
the study period model
the study format (distance learning, dual studies)
Students who are enrolled at IU or will be enrolled in the semester following the application are eligible for funding.
Students from other universities, supplementary courses or students who are currently taking an entrance examination at IU International University are not eligible for funding.
The following can apply
Interested persons
who will enroll at the IU in the semester following the application (deadline 1 April/1 October) and can provide evidence of outstanding performance.
Bachelor students at IU
who are in their first or second semester and can provide an outstanding average grade in their Abitur, Fachabitur or professional qualification.
- from the third semester onwards, who have achieved outstanding results during their studies.
Master's students at IU
who are in their first or second semester and can provide evidence of an outstanding average grade in their Bachelor's degree.
from the third semester onwards, who have achieved outstanding results during their studies.
Selection criteria*
*All information must be provided with appropriate evidence. Information without evidence cannot be considered.
**The average grade of 2.0 or better refers to the German grading system. A conversion to the German grading system is mandatory for an application. Please note that the conversion of grades is not carried out by the Deutschlandstipendium team.
Requirements
Average grade of the university entrance qualification 2.0** or better
Vocational qualification or advanced training (master craftsman, business administrator, etc.) with admission to IU International University 2.0** or better (for vocationally qualified students)
Final grade Diplom or Bachelor 2.0** or better (for Master students)
The following criteria are considered as well
Special achievements, awards and prizes, previous professional experience and internships
extracurricular commitment such as voluntary work, social, higher education or political commitment or participation in religious societies, associations or clubs
special personal or family circumstances such as illnesses and disabilities, caring for own children, especially as a single parent, or close relatives in need of care, working in the family business, gainful employment while studying, family origin or a migration background
Requirements
Complete achievement of the number of ECTS credits stipulated by IU International University in accordance with the relevant curriculum for the standard period of study completed to date
Previous academic achievements 2.0** or better
Enrolled at IU for at least 12 months from the start of funding and within the standard period of study
The following criteria are considered as well
special successes, awards and prizes, previous employment and internships
extracurricular activities such as voluntary work, social, higher education or political involvement or participation in religious societies, associations or clubs
special personal or family circumstances such as illnesses and disabilities, caring for own children, especially as a single parent, or close relatives in need of care, working in the family business, gainful employment while studying, family origin or a migration background
The most important questions regarding the application
You can apply for the Deutschlandstipendium twice a year during the current application period.
Application periods:
for the following winter semester: 01.06. - 31.07.
for the following summer semester: 01.12. - 31.01.
Funding begins on 01 April or 01 October.
The scholarship holder must be enrolled as a student at the IU during the funding period. Proof of this must be provided.
If enrolment takes place at a later date than 1 April or 1 October, the scholarship will be granted and paid from the month following enrolment.

Applications via e-mail will not be accepted.
Only applications that are complete and received within the specified application period (23:59, cut-off time) will be considered. Applications that are not submitted on time and in the correct form will not be considered. You will not receive any feedback as to whether any documents are missing. Incorrect information in the application procedure will result in immediate exclusion from the award procedure.
Application documents to be submitted*:
Letter of motivation of no more than 2 pages, explaining in particular your personal background and personal objectives, special social or personal circumstances, as well as social commitment and willingness to take on responsibility
Curriculum vitae
Certificate of higher education entrance qualification - in the case of foreign certificates, a translation that can be transferred to the German system and conversion to the German grading system
If applicable, proof of an aptitude test of the IU International University
Bachelor's certificate or diploma certificate if applicable (for applicants in the Master's degree programme)
If applicable, proof of examinations and achievements to date (ECTS points and assessments)
Internship and work references, if applicable
Proof of special honours and prizes, if applicable
If applicable, proof of circumstances within the meaning of Section 2 (1) and (2) of the IU International University's guidelines (relating to performance records, extracurricular activities and special personal or family circumstances).
If applicable, proof of enrolment at IU International University.
*Certificates, awards and other achievements (e.g. active participation in projects/associations) can only be accepted and assessed if they can be documented.
The selection process is carried out after the deadline of the respective application phase.
Scholarship holders are selected by the representatives appointed by the university on the basis of the documents submitted in due form and time.
Scholarships are expected to be announced two weeks before the start of the funding period.

The legal basis for the Deutschlandstipendium is the Act on the Creation of a National Scholarship Programme (Scholarship Programme Act - StipG) of 21 July 2010 and the Ordinance on the Implementation of the Scholarship Programme Act (Scholarship Programme Ordinance - StipV) of 20 December 2010. In order to award Deutschlandstipendium scholarships, it is necessary to collect, process and store personal data from applicants for this purpose.
