Your IU studies in Cyber Security
In the practice-oriented Bachelor's programme in Cyber Security, you will become a threat hunter with leadership potential. You will work intensively on the Architecture, Programming and Maintenance of Security Systems. In order to do this, you will learn the basics of Computer Science, Computer Security and Programming with Python. In addition to Incident Response and Computer Forensics, you will learn about aspects of Pentesting and Reversing. You can deepen your knowledge with courses such as Host and Software Forensics in the field of Computer Security or Cloud Computing in the field of Computer Science.
But your Bachelor’s degree in Cyber Security can do even more. Especially when it comes to current topics such as Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence and Advanced Data Analysis. IT law and IT service Management are also covered. You will become an expert in the field of Network and Data Security.
A look into the future: what you'll do after graduation
As a Cyber Security specialist, you can be sure of excellent career prospects across all sectors.
After your Bachelor's degree, for example, it could be your job to protect the valuable data of your company and its customers. To do this, you develop comprehensive Network and Security strategies and also strengthen the security awareness of your company. Or you are responsible for the Planning, Installation, Administration and Maintenance of the Firewall and Network infrastructure and continuously optimise the it infrastructure of your company.
The most important questions about studying Cyber Security
Good news: IU deliberately does not have a numerus clausus (NC). You don't have to go through an arduous selection process or have waiting semesters credited to you, because none of our degree programmes have an NC. We prefer to talk to you personally and find out together where your talents and strengths lie. And above all, what goals you are pursuing with your studies.
You can study Cyber Security in the following cities: Berlin and Bad Honnef. And of course at the Virtual Campus, which makes your studies possible anywhere in Germany.
Yes, we also make this possible at IU. In addition to the entrance qualification in the form of an Abitur or Fachabitur, interested students without an Abitur also have the opportunity to enter our Bachelor's programme. You can study Cyber Security without an Abitur if you have completed an advanced training course (e.g. as a Chamber of Industry and Commerce business administrator), have a master craftsman's certificate or have at least two years of vocational training and at least three years of subsequent work experience.
The Cyber Security Bachelor’s programme lasts for 36, 48 or 72 months, depending on which time model you choose. If you need more time and semesters for your studies, this is absolutely no problem.
