With your master’s programme in Public Management, you will receive an interdisciplinary education in the law, leadership, as well as in technology and innovation management. You will learn about new technologies and forms of work in public administration and will later be able to use them appropriately with ease. Your legal expertise in public law will also be trained. After graduation, you will be a sought-after expert with administrative knowledge for digital transformation. It is already possible to specialise while studying for your master’s degree to become a Public Manager. For example, in the fields of sustainability and the environment, intelligent urban design, public health and social issues, digitisation and transformation or HR Analytics and development. Another special feature: You will be able to acquire international certificates during your studies. For example, for information security and data protection – this way, you will become a certified data protection officer. It is also possible to become a certified Six Sigma manager for process management and process optimisation.

EMPLOYEE OR CIVIL SERVANT IN THE HIGHER ADMINISTRATIVE SERVICE OR COMPARABLE STATE SERVICE
You can work as a manager in cross-sectional areas of various federal authorities as well as in non-profit institutions and manage projects of all kinds, especially in the field of digital transformation. You can also take on the role of a specialist officer in a specially created position, e.g. Chief Digital Officer (CDO) or Chief Information Officer (CIO). You can also work in a specialist position.
As an in-house consultant, you are responsible for advising the top management of public authorities or public institutions in the context of digital transformation. You act as an expert for internal change, lead internal change processes and promote corresponding training and coaching measures for employees.
As a project manager, you lead progressive projects in public institutions in the course of current social challenges (e.g. sustainability, social change or efficiency). You usually manage an interdisciplinary team and keep track of all procedures and processes. In addition, as a sub-project manager, you can provide support in various specialist areas and constantly expand your horizons.

Generally, a completed undergraduate degree with a subject-related focus in the respective IU Master's program is a requirement for admission. The first undergraduate degree must have been successfully completed at a state or state-recognized college/university and with a final grade of at least "satisfactory". If the first degree does not include a subject-related focus, admission to the program can also be granted if the student has completed a related professional activity.
For English language degree courses, a proof (TOEFL, IELTS, Duolingo, Cambridge or equivalent proof, e.g. through the free IU English course.) of sufficient English language skills is required.

Alternatively, also professional activities with corresponding backgrounds can be accredited in individual cases. A degree from a state or state-recognized college/university with a final grade of at least "Satisfactory". Accreditation of knowledge and skills acquired outside of the university sector is generally possible. University entrance qualification as a foreign student applicant.
