BWL – Spezialisierung Accounting & Controlling (B.A.)*

For positions in accounting and controlling, you should not be afraid of numbers. A good basic understanding of mathematics is therefore essential. If you are unsure whether your knowledge of mathematics is sufficient for the dual study program, please ask your student advisor directly.

You do not need any previous knowledge for the dual study program in BWL - Accounting & Controlling. You will learn the basics of business administration and economics during the first two semesters of your basic studies. However, it is of course an advantage if you have already had some contact with these subjects and if you enjoy business administration. Of course, it is always helpful if you make your interest in this specialization clear to the student advisory service.

Your salary depends on the industry, position and company size in which you work as an accountant or controller. Your income will increase with more professional experience and specialization. As a rough guide, you can expect a starting salary of around 40,000 euros gross per year. After a few years, your salary could rise to more than 100,000 euros gross per year.

With your Accounting & Controlling specialization, you can start your career as a specialist in the middle management of companies or groups - and in very different industries. Whether food, textile or automotive industry, whether online retail or the local branch: You can start your career where your strengths and interests lie!

You can study this degree program on a virtual campus. You learn the theory independent of location by participating in live events via video conferencing.

Alternately, you complete the practical phases with a local practice partner in your desired region.

In addition to the admission requirements, you should also have some personal prerequisites. These include a strong understanding of mathematics, as you will be dealing with business topics such as "cost and performance accounting" or "accounting and annual financial statements" during your studies. In addition, you should have analytical skills and enjoy teamwork.

In the dual study program, you combine theory at IU with practice in a company. This means that your practical partner will be guided by the training guidelines for the Accounting & Controlling specialization of the dual study program in BWL. Each semester is listed there with the corresponding modules. In this way, you can optimally apply your professional knowledge in your daily work and learn the interrelationships more quickly.
