What NC do I need to study business informatics?

At IU, we deliberately refrain from offering Bachelor's programmes with a numerus clausus (NC). You don't have to prepare for an arduous selection process. In which city can I study business informatics?

You can currently complete your Bachelor's degree in Business Informatics at the Virtual Campus. This means that you can study anywhere in Germany. You can also study in the following cities: Aachen, Augsburg, Berlin, Bielefeld, Bochum, Braunschweig, Bremen, Dortmund, Dresden, Duisburg, Düsseldorf, Erfurt, Essen, Frankfurt, Freiburg, Fulda (virtual), Hamburg, Hanover, Karlsruhe, Kassel, Cologne, Leipzig, Lübeck, Mainz, Mannheim, Mönchengladbach, Munich, Münster, Nuremberg, Ravensburg, Regensburg, Saarbrücken (virtual), Schwerin (virtual), Stuttgart, Trier (virtual), Ulm, Wuppertal.

Can I study business informatics without an Abitur?

Yes, we are happy to make that possible for you at the IU. In addition to the entrance qualification in the form of an Abitur or Fachabitur, interested students with alternative qualifications have the opportunity to enter our Bachelor's programme. You can study business informatics without an Abitur if you have completed an advanced training course, are a state-certified technician/business economist, have a master craftsman's certificate or have at least two years of vocational training and at least three years of subsequent work experience.

How long does the business informatics degree programme take?

The Business Informatics Bachelor’s programme lasts for 36, 48 or 72 months, depending on which time model you choose. In the myStudium study format, the standard duration is 36 months. However, if you need more time and semesters for your studies, this is absolutely no problem.

Am I suited for business informatics?

The better question would be: are Business Informatics suitable for you? Business Informatics studies combine content from Computer Science and Business Administration. If these are topics that interest you, Business Informatics could be right for you. Your wishes for the future also play a role. Do you want to work on computers for companies or organisations? Do you want to analyse data and write concepts, develop strategies and update IT architectures? Then Business Informatics is for you - or vice versa. If you are still unsure, you can do an internship in the field or take a closer look at the curriculum. Remember: you can learn anything as long as the subject interests you, even if it seems difficult or complicated. No master has ever fallen from the sky.
