You will take care of all aspects of flight and cargo operations to ensure that the staffing for the functioning terminal operations can be guaranteed, that everything runs efficiently and safely and, above all, that it is within budget. You will also manage the staff with ease by motivating, coaching and advising them. You will also know how to use the skills you learn in your studies in critical situations with customers, freight and employees.
In your position as manager, you will be responsible for leading the team and prioritising ramps, fleet, customer service and baggage handling. With safety, punctuality and compliance in mind, you will develop, analyse and re-evaluate strategies to drive progress and achieve goals. Everything to do with ground operations and the needs and concerns of the workforce will be in your hands.
As a network manager, you will be responsible for an airline's flight plan. You will be responsible for ensuring that the route network offered by your airline is as profitable as possible. Your agenda will include monitoring developments, planning ahead and identifying market potential. You will use your skills to optimise the economic concept of your employer and thus ensure growth.

With vocational or high school diploma With a general university entrance qualification (high school diploma) or an entrance qualification for universities of applied sciences (vocational diploma: academic and practical part), you can enter our Bachelor's study programme* directly.
Graduates from Waldorf schools and vocational colleges in Baden-Württemberg must have their entrance qualification for universities of applied sciences confirmed by the relevant authority in order to be able to study in another federal state. This also applies if you want to study in a federal state other than Thuringia. Additional achievements may be required. Our student advisory team will answer any questions about this.
* For applicants with international school diplomas (e.g. IB-Diploma) or degrees earned abroad, the institution conducts an equivalence test (according to Anabin).
You can also study at IU International University of Applied Sciences (IU) without a high school diploma. To do so, you simply need:
A master craftsman's certificate or
Advanced professional training (e.g. as an IHK business administrator) or
At least two years of recognized vocational training in Germany, followed by at least 3 years of professional experience (full-time)*: Depending on the focus of your training and professional activity and what you want to study, you can start directly with a trial phase or prove your aptness in other ways.
*If you have completed your vocational training and professional experience within Europe, but outside of Germany, the university will carry out an equivalency assessment. EU qualifications can be accepted as equivalent if your vocational qualification is comparable to a German vocational qualification at level DQR 4.
Depending on your personal circumstances, you might be required to provide proof of your English language proficiency. Your skills would need to match the B2 level of the Common European Framework (CEF). We accept the following English language skills certificates*:
TOEFL (minimum 80 points) or
IELTS (minimum 6,0 points) or
Duolingo English Test (minimum 95 points) or
Cambridge Certificate (minimum Grade B)
Note: Proof must be provided before starting the study programme and must not be older than five years. Is English your native language, or have you graduated from an English-speaking school or institution of higher education? Then you do not need to prove your English language proficiency.
