PR Consultant
As a PR consultant you should have excellent organisational skills, creativity, and enjoy giving advice. You generally work in an agency or company for one or more clients. You enjoy the creation of concepts that your clients shine in the public light. You should be responsive to your clients’ wishes and to help make their image successful through your consulting. As an interface between your clients and the media, you will never get bored in this profession. You are responsible for writing and sending press releases, invitations to PR events or press conferences, as well as organising events. You sometimes also create magazines, brochures, and business reports, which usually profit from good design and conceptual skills. Anyone who wants to work as a PR consultant needs a feel for trends, the ability to communicate clearly, and a willingness to quickly familiarise with unfamiliar topics. You internalise your role as a service provider, which means doing spontaneous assignments, being reachable by telephone, and accepting assignments for evening and weekend appointments. You will be rewarded with variety and responsibility for exciting projects.
Press Spokesman
A newspaper urgently needs a printable photo, a magazine needs a text, a radio station needs a statement, and of course, everything must be ready at the same time. As a press officer, you are a master at prioritising, can stay calm even in stressful times, and react in a friendly and accommodating way in any situation. Every day at work is different for a press officer: You always need to have the current news in mind and use it to develop PR measures that place your company in a positive light. You design press releases, PR campaigns, and press conferences. You answer press inquiries by text or on the phone and give interviews for radio or television. You are generally very close to the management so you can pass news about the company to the media quickly and answer press inquiries quickly and confidently. As a creative all-rounder and networker with an interest in the media landscape, strong communication skills, and a talent for writing, you would be exactly the right person for this versatile job.
Online Editor
Content is king! Online editors are a sought-after species in this digitalised world. More and more companies are hiring online editors who maintain their websites and fill them with exciting content to attract the attention of potential customers or the general public. In your day-to-day work, you usually write search engine-optimised texts, which you supplement with attractive images, graphics, videos, or animations. Depending on the employer, your work shifts between journalism and web design, with a clear focus on producing texts. You are needed in classic newspaper, magazine, radio, and TV editorial offices, but often also in agencies or PR and advertising for companies. In the promising online journalism industry, the ability to write quickly and scout trends, an interest in the media landscape, and a certain affinity for technology are important to skilfully place your texts and make them easy to find.
