Jessie de Witt Huberts is Professor of Psychology at the IU. She obtained her Master's degree in social psychology and in clinical psychology at the University of Amsterdam. After a year of clinical work in an addiction clinic, she started her dissertation research at Utrecht University focussing on the self-regulation of health behaviour. Since then she has worked as a post-doc at Potsdam University and research fellow at the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine, where she consulted for various organisations and governments on the development of behaviour change strategies and campaigns. Prior to starting her position as Professor at the IU she worked as policy advisor for addiction prevention for the Senate Department for Health, Care and Equality of Berlin.
Forschungsgebiete
Jessie de Witt Huberts’ research focuses on the social-psychological determinants of behaviour and how these determinants can be leveraged to change behaviour. She has studied these mechanisms in a wide range of behaviours, including eating behaviour, addictive behaviours, pain perception and management, HIV-prevention, and hygiene behaviour and in wide variety of settings, from laboratory experiments with students to field experiments in rural Vietnam.
