Prof. Dr. Thomas Lange

As Professor of Public Management, Prof. Dr. Thomas Lange works on the comparative analysis of institutions in national and international governance. In the field of International Health Governance, he has examined the World Health Organization's (WHO) pursuit of autonomy, developing the concept of "counter-contestation" in work published in Health Policy. The development of crisis management structures in the European Union is a further subject of his research, as are state–NGO relations in the fields of global health and development policy. He has published on these topics in the journals Public Administration and Development and Health Policy.

Thomas Lange also works on recent developments in corporatist structures. In his forthcoming book Welfare Corporatism in Germany: From Consensus to Hybridity (Springer), he examines welfare corporatism in Germany and the hybridization of the governance structures associated with it.

Since 2021, Prof. Dr. Thomas Lange has been Professor of Public Management and Head of the Public Management Programme at the IU International University of Applied Sciences. Before that, he was a post-doctoral researcher at the Protestant Institute for Interdisciplinary Research (FEST) in Heidelberg, Germany. He holds degrees in political science (Magister Artium) and economics (Dipl.-Volkswirt) as well as a doctorate in social sciences from the University of Heidelberg.

In addition to a guest editorship at Health Policy and the organization of academic workshops, Thomas Lange serves as a peer reviewer for the Journal of Contingencies and Crisis Management, Policy Studies and Risk, Hazards & Crisis in Public Policy (RHCPP), among others.
