Lara Yegenoglu lehrt seit 2021 an der IU Internationale Hochschule im Fachbereich Architektur, wo sie einerseits die wissenschaftliche Leitung für Entwerfen und Gebäudelehre sowie Konzept- und Modellentwurf übernommen hat und andererseits das Projekt: Wohnkonzept akademisch unterstützt.
Nach erfolgreichem Abschluss Ihres AA Diploma und Masters an der Architectural Association School of Architecture in London war sie neben unterschiedlichen Lehrtätigkeiten an der AA, der Bartlett School of Architecture sowie Oxford Brooks School of Architecture ebenso an diversen internationalen Projekten in der Praxis tätig.
Seit der Gründung Ihres Architekturbüros VILAA beschäftigt sie sich vermehrt mit dem Entwerfen nachhaltiger und ressourceneffizienter Materialien und realisiert unter anderem Projekte in Holzbauweise sowie im Passivhausstandard. Neben ökonomischer und ökologischer Nachhaltigkeit liegt ihre Motivation als Architektin in der Social Sustainability. Themen rund um den gesellschaftlichen Wandel urbaner Wohnräume und die damit verbundenen soziokulturellen Herausforderungen bilden die Grundlagen für ihre architektonischen Ansätze zur Schaffung innovativer nutzer- und zukunftsorientierter Gebäudetypologien und Raumkonzepte.

The focus of the research lies in analysing and recomposing environments amid comfort and despair – from the familiar to the uncanny – with a distinct objective to analyse the emotional impact of space.
The existing housing fabric in contemporary cities no longer responds to the diverse living habits of the individual dwellers. Hence restricting their behavioural patterns through architectural borders. Between each border lies a transitional zones between us and ‘the other’. The research investigates areas of cultural and social friction within these thresholds to define new architectural models that are informed by inhabitation, perception and encounter.
The geographical boundaries in cities between different communities are collapsing, turning the urban fabric into a multi-layered framework of social complexities. Cultural formations no longer simply represent the neighbourhood at large but are deconstructed into micro- territories, which populate smaller scales of the built environment. The research examines the impact of social movements and neighbourhood complexities based on various areas of gentrification across London.
