Why Essen?

Essen will inspire you - at least at second glance. Since the end of the heavy industry era, the "Green Capital of Europe" has developed into one of the most popular cultural centres in Germany. More than half a million people live in Essen and it’s an ideal starting point for a successful start to your future with a degree programme. At IU, degree programmes such as Business Administration, Tourism Management or Communication & PR are just waiting for you to enrol. And if you are still missing some information to discover studying in Essen for yourself, feel free to contact our student advisory service, which will help you decide on the right degree programme and the perfect form of study for you.

Given its regional importance and location, the city of Essen is often referred to as the capital of the Ruhr region. The important industrial location with the headquarters of well-known large companies and diverse medium-sized businesses opens up an exciting mix of industries for our students. In addition, with its many green spaces, Essen offers respite from the pulsating everyday life of the big city. It is precisely this mixture that makes a liveable business and science location.
