PROJECT DESCRIPTION

In close cooperation between the two locations, two work packages are being worked on in the joint project. In the first phase, the “Distance” project aims to use qualitative interviews with young people and practitioners from counselling centres relevant to the topic to comprehensively analyse the process of rapprochement and successful distancing from Islamist radicalisation (WP I). In the second phase of work, new models, further training and preventive-pedagogical approaches for counselling centres and other actors in the field will be developed together with the practice partners on the basis of the scientific findings from the qualitative study in order to support distancing. The project thus deals with the practical question of how radicalisation tendencies of young people can be identified at an early stage and which preventive-pedagogical measures/projects - especially in structural terms in families, schools, workplaces and (religious) institutions - can be successfully used to counter radicalisation and promote distancing. In addition, teaching concepts and teacher training for schools on preventive pedagogical work are being developed (WP II). The practical workshops and training courses, which last several hours, are aimed at interested teachers. In work package II, not only are the results of project phase I used, but an additional review of previous approaches and offers of deradicalisation takes place, which are systematised and examined with regard to transferability to the project. This applies both to the training courses and workshops as well as the handouts that are made available to the practitioners.
