In 2026, we offer the following funding options for your distance learning programme:
1x 100% full scholarship worth up to €15,444
4x partial scholarships of €7,444 each
8x partial scholarships of €3,444 each
11x partial scholarships of €3,444 each for Cluster Health & Social Affairs
6x partial scholarships of €3,200 for for dual study programs in Social Work and Early Childhood Education**

Anyone who meets the general Plan for admission to studies at IU International University of Applied Sciences (IU) can apply.

Different funding amounts are available depending on whether you receive a full or partial scholarship.

Fulfil all participation and data protection requirements during the application process
The selection is based in particular on:
your vision for your studies and future educational path,
how your motivation relates to working in Health & Social Affairs (for partial scholarships in Health & Social Affairs),
the clarity, personal presentation, and comprehensibility of your application,
how well you fit the chosen study programme,
as well as your individual personal situation.
The selection process has several stages and includes: (1) checking formal requirements, (2) a structured assessment of your submitted information, and (3) an additional selection by random draw.

Fill out your online application for your chosen programme. You can do this right away or after applying for the scholarship.
Important: Enrolment is not required at the time of application. To receive funding, you just need to start your studies within the specified timeframe.
Once your documents have been reviewed and the application period has ended, we’ll inform you of the outcome. If you are awarded the scholarship, it will be credited directly towards your tuition fees. Please note: there is no cash payout.
You’re all set! Right on time for your contract start, you’ll receive all the important information and access details.

Motivation letter: Outline your motivation for studying, your personal circumstances, future prospects, and the relevance to society.
CV: Tabular CV including details of your education, professional background, and relevant qualifications and experience.
Proof of university entrance qualification
Study contract or proof of admission (note: your starting date can be in the future).
Declaration of eligibility: Signed statement confirming that you are not receiving any other relevant scholarships and are not enrolled in a parallel programme.
The Sorgenfrei Scholarship applies to distance learning programmes or dual study programmes at IU.
In the dual study programme at IU International University of Applied Sciences (IU), your practical partner covers your tuition fees, allowing you to focus entirely on your future. For distance learning programmes, we offer the following funding options:

If you are awarded a scholarship, the amount is credited directly towards your tuition fees, reducing your monthly payment accordingly. There is no cash payout. The funding does not have to be repaid.
There is no legal entitlement to funding. All regulations can be found in the terms and conditions of participation and funding.
Yes, you can combine the IU Sorgenfrei Scholarship powered by Santander with other funding options such as BAföG, KfW student loans, and more.
If you are awarded the scholarship, the funding amount is credited directly towards your tuition fees, reducing your monthly payments.
