In-person exams

At IU International University of Applied Sciences (IU), you can take in-person exams twice a month at various locations in Germany, Austria, and Switzerland . The first of these dates takes place at all exam locations - the second only at some of them. You must register via myCampus at least 10.5 days in advance . Usually, you have three time slots to choose from: morning, midday, or afternoon.

Online exams

At IU, you can conveniently take your exams online: On 365 days a year, 24/7. You simply book a free time slot via myCampus. You can decide whether you want German or English proctors for your exam supervision. There is generally no deadline for registering for the online exam. You can take the exam spontaneously or book your appointment well in advance.

Before taking an online exam, we recommend trying our mock exams . This way, you can familiarize yourself with how they work and find out what it's like to take an online exam at IU. You can take mock exams with or without proctoring . However, please note that you can test the mock exam with proctoring only once.

Please note that there is a fixed cancellation deadline for exams.

For online exams: You can cancel your online exam up to 24 hours before your booked exam slot.

For in-person exams: The cancellation deadline here is 10.5 days before the exam day.

If you want to have your prior learning from an apprenticeship, degree, or work experience recognized, you can submit an application for recognition .

It is best to submit this application before your studies or during the trial period — this way, you ensure the highest cost and time savings! You can save €30 per recognized ECTS point.

You upload written assignments to Turnitin, which you'll find in your course on myCampus. You will find the corresponding link for submitting your work in Turnitin directly there. For further details, you can take another close look at the user guide for Turnitin, which is also stored in your course.

For practical assignments such as Basic Portfolios or Portfolios, use the tool PebblePad. The link for it can be found in your course on myCampus.

To ensure smooth submission of your written or practical exams, it is recommended to open myCampus in Firefox or Chrome.

At the start, you should independently find a supervisor and a topic for your thesis . Note: This topic should fit your curriculum or study content. You can find a suitable supervisor via the supervisor board on myCampus. After you've found someone, you can submit your exposé. Once your supervisor agrees with your topic, structure, and methodology, you can register your thesis via the application management.

From then on, depending on the time model, you will have between 8 and 16 weeks to work on your bachelor thesis. For a master's thesis, the processing period is 15-44 weeks. For some courses, there are variations to the exact procedure. After your submission, the colloquium will take place where you will prove that you created the work independently. Afterwards, you will have completed your thesis module and can successfully finish your distance learning Programme.
