Your studies will introduce you to various concepts of data management. There are many different areas of business intelligence. You will learn how ETL processes work, how to store structured and unstructured data as well as how to model and visualize them using your reports and key figures. This enables you to collect and evaluate different types of data and derive profitable conclusions. You also keep an eye on the scientific discourse on central techniques and methods of business intelligence.

As a Data Consultant, you develop data strategies based on your BI expertise. Your activities range from solving concrete problems with BI to establishing company-wide strategies. You will also have the opportunity to support relevant stakeholders in data and BI projects as an independent consultant.
Business Intelligence Solution Architects focus on the analysis of business processes. From this, they derive technologically necessary BI components. You develop Database Models and Data Warehouse Architectures. They also create reports and dashboards for both your internal clients and stakeholders.
As a BI Data Engineer, you will be responsible for the development and maintenance of data infrastructures for business intelligence solutions. You will design, implement and optimize ETL pipelines to extract, transform and load data from various sources and work closely with data analysts and BI developers to understand data processing and storage requirements and deliver efficient solutions. You will use advanced database and programming skills to ensure data integrity and quality and develop innovative solutions to complex data challenges.
Depending on your personal or professional situation, full-time study is not always easy to manage. That is why we have also developed part-time programmes for all our degrees, which offer flexible and longer study periods. This way, you can study alongside your job or during your time off, whether at home or abroad. The content of the different models is identical. Depending on the study model, we will adjust your tuition fees accordingly. With the part-time variants, your weekly study workload is reduced.
Can't finish your degree in the allotted time? No problem! We will develop the right study model for everyone. If you realise that you need more time, you can easily switch to another study model with three months’ notice before the end of the month. These are our different study models:

Completed undergraduate degree in economics or business administration, natural sciences, data science or Buisness and IT or computer science with at least 180 ECTS
Your degree must be from a state or state-approved higher education institution/university
You must have achieved a final grade of at least “satisfactory” or Grade C equivalent to the German grade “befriedigend” in your previous undergraduate degree
Alternatives to the minimum grade (120 ECTS credits)
If you have completed your bachelor's degree with a grade of "sufficient" or grade D equivalent to the German grade “ausreichend” (up to 4.0), you can still be admitted to a master's or MBA program. For this, you need:
A bachelor's degree (grade 3.5 - 4.0) from a state or state-approved higher education institution/university
and
Relevant study achievements from a master's/MBA programme at a state or state-approved higher education institution/university relevant to the desired master's/MBA programme, with a minimum of 40 ECTS credits
or
A relevant completed master's/MBA degree from a state or state-approved higher education institution/university
or
Relevant qualifications outside of academia which can be credited to you such as further education/training at GQF7 level or – for foreign qualifications such as postgraduate diplomas – equivalent to GQF7 level relevant to the desired master's/MBA programme, with a minimum of 40 ECTS credits
Tip: If you apply for recognition, we can review your relevant achievements and, where possible, credit them towards your study programme in a relevant field.
Exception: To be admitted to the master's programme in Architecture (120 ECTS credits), you must have completed your undergraduate degree with a final grade of at least "good” or grade B equivalent to the German grade "good" (up to 2.5).
Is your undergraduate degree not in the required subject field for the 120 ECTS programme's admission requirements? You can still apply! You'll have to take 2 specific courses from your study programme and successfully complete them before you can start your studies.
Recognition of knowledge and abilities acquired outside of higher education is possible in principle.
The alternative admission requirements represent individual exceptions to the aforementioned General Admission Requirements and ensure that you are qualified to access a master's degree programme. Admission is granted at the discretion of the institution.
Depending on your personal circumstances, you might be required to provide proof of your English language proficiency. Your skills would need to match the B2 level of the Common European Framework (CEF). We accept the following English language skills certificates*:
TOEFL (minimum 80 points) or
IELTS (minimum 6,0 points) or
Duolingo English Test (minimum 95 points) or
Cambridge Certificate (minimum Grade B)
Note: Proof must be provided before starting the study programme and must not be older than five years. Is English your native language, or have you graduated from an English-speaking school or institution of higher education? Then you do not need to prove your English language proficiency. Sehr empfehlenswert
Insgesamt ein super Studium, ich bin sehr zufrieden und fühle mich rundum gut betreut und aufgehoben. Es wird sich viel Mühe um die Zufriedenheit der Studenten gegeben und auch die Dozenten sind super nett und engagiert. Man kann jederzeit Fragen klären und hat immer einen Ansprechpartner der einem weiterhilft. Ich würde jederzeit wieder an der IU studieren und kann es nur weiterempfehlen!

Flexibilität im Fernstudium neben dem Beruf
Ich habe bisher sehr gute Erfahrungen im Fernstudium ‚Angewandte Psychologie‘ gemacht. Besonders gut gefällt mir die Flexibilität bei der IU, weil ich neben dem Studium zu 100 % arbeite. Ich kann selbst entscheiden, wann und wie viel ich lerne. Sehr zufrieden bin ich auch damit, dass ich keinen Druck habe, wann ich mit dem Studium fertig sein muss, und dass ich kostenlos verlängern kann. Dadurch kann ich das Studium besser mit meinem Berufsleben vereinbaren.
