This is what your Computer Science studies at IU look like
At IU, you will be taught all the necessary basics in programming, scientific work and mathematics in your Bachelor of Computer Science. You will be able to acquire core competences in the field of databases, algorithms or theoretical computer science. You will also be able to expand your know-how in software engineering. In addition, there are courses on IT security and IT law as well as agile project management. You will also be able to deepen the specialist knowledge you have acquired during your studies and specialise further in selected areas such as Mobile Software Engineering, Big Data and Cloud Technologies or Software Engineering with Python. Of course, everything will be in English so that you are prepared for the international market.
A look into the future: What you will be able to do after graduating
Your Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science is the ideal basis for working later as a business analyst, an IT application consultant or a software developer in the public sector, in industry and business or as a self-employed person. Studying computer science at a university, and doing so in English, will open up really good career opportunities for you on a national and international level.
The most important questions about studying Computer Science
IU does not have a numerus clausus (NC). Studying without an NC is totally possible, because it is important to us that you choose the degree programme that best suits you and your interests.
You can study Computer Science at the following cities from October 2022: Berlin and Bad Honnef. And of course, at our Virtual Campus, which allows you to study anywhere in Germany.
Yes, this is possible at IU. In addition to the entrance qualification in the form of an Abitur or Fachabitur, interested students without an Abitur also have the opportunity to enter our Bachelor's programme. You can study Computer Science without an Abitur or a high school diploma if you have a master craftsman's certificate, have completed a further education course (such as an IHK Fachwirt) or have at least two years of vocational training and at least three years of subsequent work experience.
The Bachelor of Computer Science has a duration of 36, 48 or 72 months, depending on which time model you choose. If you need more time and more semesters for your studies, it will not be a problem.
