Course Content
Programme overview in the Finance, Accounting and Taxation online study programme
Our master's programme in Finance, Accounting and Taxetion could be the next big step in your career. Our aim is to provide you with the necessary expertise and skills to get started as a manager in the Finance department of a company. On the one hand, the focus of teaching is on deepening the scientific and economic foundations and on imparting expert knowledge and methodological skills in the areas of Financing, National and International Accounting and Taxation. On the other hand, the essential basics and instruments of Leadership and Management are taught. Seminars and projects in which you transfer the knowledge you have learned into practice round off the curriculum. Current challenges – in particular the digital transformation – are repeatedly addressed during the course of the study programme, in order that you can meet them with suitable tools and solutions in your future professional practice. At the end of your studies, you have the opportunity to focus on a field of activity (e.g. Success-Oriented Controlling, Management Consulting) and/or an industry (e.g. Tourism, Aviation) of your choice in our broad range of electives.

As a Chief Financial Officer (CFO), you are one of the members of the top management of a company and are responsible for the entire financial discipline. Your tasks include managing funds, signing cheques, keeping the books and managing the organisation's financial and liquidity planning.
You develop strategies to optimise processes in your department and ensure that the management function has an overview of the company's financial situation at all times.
As an Accounting Manager, you and your team are responsible for the day-to-day accounting and the timely preparation of financial reports for a company. You plan and monitor commercial processes, prepare financial data and use it to create key figure analyses for Corporate Management, as well as reporting and statistics.
You take on management tasks and act as a contact person for banks, auditors and tax consultants.
As Head of Treasury, you and your team keep an eye on your company's finances. You ensure that there are always sufficient funds available to keep the organisation running.
At the same time, as a Treasurer, you look ahead and underpin your company's finances with long-term financing strategies and future-oriented liquidity management. When companies grow and expand internationally, their finances have to grow with them – and you keep an eye on all that.

We make it possible: At IU International University of Applied Sciences you can start your desired study programme - without NC, state-recognised, with or without a general A-level!
Completed undergraduate degree in economics or related subjects with at least 180 ECTS
Your degree must be from a state or state-approved higher education institution/university
You must have achieved a final grade of at least “satisfactory” or Grade C equivalent to the German grade “befriedigend” in your previous undergraduate degree
Alternatives to the minimum grade (120 ECTS credits)
If you have completed your bachelor's degree with a grade of "sufficient" or grade D equivalent to the German grade “ausreichend” (up to 4.0), you can still be admitted to a master's or MBA program. For this, you need:
A bachelor's degree (grade 3.5 - 4.0) from a state or state-approved higher education institution/university
ANDRelevant study achievements from a master's/MBA programme at a state or state-approved higher education institution/university relevant to the desired master's/MBA programme, with a minimum of 40 ECTS credits
ORA relevant completed master's/MBA degree from a state or state-approved higher education institution/university
ORRelevant qualifications outside of academia which can be credited to you such as further education/training at GQF7 level or – for foreign qualifications such as postgraduate diplomas – equivalent to GQF7 level relevant to the desired master's/MBA programme, with a minimum of 40 ECTS credits
Tip: If you apply for recognition, we can review your relevant achievements and, where possible, credit them towards your study programme in a relevant field.
Exception: To be admitted to the master's programme in Architecture (120 ECTS credits), you must have completed your undergraduate degree with a final grade of at least "good” or grade B equivalent to the German grade "good" (up to 2.5).
Is your undergraduate degree not in the required subject field for the 120 ECTS programme's admission requirements? You can still apply! You'll have to take 2 specific courses from your study programme and successfully complete them before you can start your studies.
Recognition of knowledge and abilities acquired outside of higher education is possible in principle.
The alternative admission requirements represent individual exceptions to the aforementioned General Admission Requirements and ensure that you are qualified to access a master's degree programme. Admission is granted at the discretion of the institution.
Depending on your personal circumstances, you might be required to provide proof of your English language proficiency. Your skills would need to match the B2 level of the Common European Framework (CEF). We accept the following English language skills certificates*:
TOEFL (minimum 80 points) or
IELTS (minimum 6,0 points) or
Duolingo English Test (minimum 95 points) or
Cambridge Certificate (minimum Grade B)
Note: Proof must be provided before starting the study programme and must not be older than five years. Is English your native language, or have you graduated from an English-speaking school or institution of higher education? Then you do not need to prove your English language proficiency. Flexibilität im Fernstudium neben dem Beruf
Ich habe bisher sehr gute Erfahrungen im Fernstudium ‚Angewandte Psychologie‘ gemacht. Besonders gut gefällt mir die Flexibilität bei der IU, weil ich neben dem Studium zu 100 % arbeite. Ich kann selbst entscheiden, wann und wie viel ich lerne. Sehr zufrieden bin ich auch damit, dass ich keinen Druck habe, wann ich mit dem Studium fertig sein muss, und dass ich kostenlos verlängern kann. Dadurch kann ich das Studium besser mit meinem Berufsleben vereinbaren.
