We are no longer offering myStudium at IU Internationale Hochschule (IU) – but new study paths are waiting for you. With the distance learning programme and dual study programme, you have two excellent alternatives leading to the same IU degree.
As part of our updated study offer, we are making targeted changes to individual study formats. That’s why we have decided to discontinue myStudium.
With the distance learning programme and dual study programme, you have two excellent alternatives — both lead to the same recognised IU degree in the same study programme and offer you flexible options to adapt your studies perfectly to your lifestyle.
Important: Our decision does not affect students already enrolled in myStudium. You can continue your myStudium as usual and complete your degree within this study model.

myStudium was offered as a teaching format within the distance learning programme — study content, programmes, and degrees were identical. The only difference was in study organisation:
With myStudium, you had the option to attend weekly support sessions at an IU campus or online, alongside your self-paced online studies. This allowed you to deepen your understanding and connect with others.
Compared to myStudium, the classic distance learning programme is even more flexible: It no longer includes in-person events for knowledge enhancement, but also offers optional and interactive online live formats, plus plenty of digital learning tools for a successful graduation.
If you chose myStudium mainly for its flexibility, the distance learning programme is the natural next step — with the same content, but even more freedom in your studies.
Find out more here about learning tools and live formats in the distance learning programme.
The main difference between the dual study programme and myStudium lies in study organisation and practical experience:
The dual study programme combines theory at the university and practical experience in a company: You study full-time at IU and work 20 hours per week with a practice partner, who covers your tuition fees.
Theory is delivered according to the dual study model:
Dual study programme: Classic on-campus studies at the IU campus
Dual myStudium: Dual distance learning programme with optional accompanying events at the virtual campus
By contrast, myStudium was offered as a teaching format of the distance learning programme: independent, location-flexible learning without compulsory practical phases. Optional accompanying events at the IU campus or online helped deepen your knowledge. Gaining practical experience was not a fixed part of myStudium, but could be acquired voluntarily as an internship.
If you want to gain real work experience alongside your studies and kick-start your career from day one, the dual study programme is the ideal alternative — same study degree, but the added value of professional experience right alongside your studies.
Find out more here about the dual study models.
In the distance learning programme, no support sessions are offered, but you can take advantage of various optional and interactive online live formats. These give you the opportunity to connect with lecturers and fellow students and support your learning.
In Dual myStudium – IU’s dual distance learning programme – optional support sessions for deepening knowledge are offered, just like in myStudium. You can attend these at the virtual campus.
In the dual study programme – IU’s dual on-campus programme – there are no support sessions, but the focus is on lectures, seminars, and tutorials.
Yes — the degree is fully state-recognised, no matter whether you choose the distance learning programme or the dual study programme. You’ll receive the same academic qualification with identical course content and quality standards.
All IU programmes are accredited and your degree is recognised internationally — giving you the same career and further education opportunities after graduation as with any other recognised university degree.
If you’ve already applied for myStudium, there’s no need to worry: your application will remain as it is and all your details and documents are still valid.
We’ll get in touch with you and help you find the right alternative — whether that’s the distance learning programme or the dual study programme.
If you have any questions in the meantime or would like personal advice, you can always contact the student advisory team.
