IU International University of Applied Sciences awarded premium seal Excellence in Digital Education

FIBAA Accreditation Commission awards premium seal of certification based on outstanding evaluations

Erfurt, 13 April 2022 - IU International University of Applied Sciences (IU) is the first German higher education institution to receive the FIBAA Accreditation and Certification Commission's "Excellence in Digital Education" quality seal in the "Premium" category, following the pilot phase in spring 2021. According to the review panel, IU, the largest university in Germany, exceeds the underlying quality requirements in 15 out of 23 criteria. Digital education at IU International University of Applied Sciences is thus rated as excellent.

Due to the outstanding evaluation by the independent FIBAA review panel, IU International University of Applied Sciences is awarded the premium seal for five years without any conditions. Especially in the categories of Future Orientation, Knowledge Management, Quality Assurance of Teaching and Academic Support of Students, IU exceeded the quality requirements of the FIBAA Commission.

Diane Freiberger, Managing Director of FIBAA congratulated the university management during the seal presentation at the IU campus in Bad Reichenhall: "I was particularly impressed by IU International University of Applied Sciences' pioneering role in the proctoring of digital exams, the sophisticated didactic design, the in-house development of the teaching and learning platform "IU Learn App" and the general culture of quality across all departments. It was not without reason that the team of experts rated these and other criteria of the FIBAA "Excellence in Digital Education" seal as superior."

"At IU, we see ourselves as pioneers in the field of digital education. Creating access to education as flexibly and individually as possible, while ensuring the quality of teaching, are the main drivers of our work. The digital infrastructure, teaching materials and didactics at IU are already at a very high level and we are constantly developing teaching concepts and formats focused on the learning experience of our students. Long before the pandemic, we were already consistently thinking digitally about education. The premium seal for Excellence in Digital Education confirms that our work is bearing fruit and that we are providing our students with a modern, digital learning environment," says Prof. Dr. Regina Cordes, Accreditation, Programme- and Content Formats at IU International University of Applied Sciences.

The FIBAA (Foundation for International Business Administration Accreditation) is an internationally recognised accreditation and certification agency that supports higher education institutions in quality assurance. It accredits according to the standards of the German Accreditation Council and awards the FIBAA quality seal to universities and study programmes. Excellent performance is awarded the premium seal.
