NEW APP SHARES KNOWLEDGE FROM GERMANY'S LARGEST UNIVERSITY

IU INTERNATIONAL UNIVERSITY OF APPLIED SCIENCES PROVIDES INSIGHTS INTO MORE THAN 130 DEGREE PROGRAMM

Erfurt, 20 May 2021 - 683 scripts from 137 study programmes can now be accessed in a single step: with the free "IU Learn App". The completely revised application provides access to the entire knowledge of distance learning at IU International University of Applied Sciences, the largest university of applied sciences in Germany. Interested individuals can browse through scripts and get an overview of the educational offerings. This allows high school graduates and working professionals to find out whether the courses in a degree programme match their interests using a concrete example. Students are efficiently guided through their studies by the app showing content appropriate to their learning progress. Through "context awareness", it knows what situation the student is in and suggests suitable options. The entire study administration system can also be accessed via the interface, for example, registration for assignments, assessment tests and examinations.

"Instead of a long search, the app uses smart technology to enable smooth navigation through courses and curriculum. In this way, we offer students an infrastructure that makes learning as efficient as possible and adapts to individual needs," says Dr Carmen Thoma, COO of IU International University of Applied Sciences. The app uses intelligent impulses to guide students through their studies and encourage them to learn. Even short breaks can be very useful for learning, for example, with three-minute explanatory videos, short learning units and more than 14,000 interactive quizzes. Prof. Dr. André Hollstein, Vice-Rector Distance Learning and Professor of Business Informatics at IU International University of Applied Sciences, says: "Digital tools are extremely important for studying today. More and more students are learning independently, and this has not been the case since the outbreak of the Corona pandemic. To do this, we have to break down classic learning content and structures and make them manageable so that they can be integrated into daily life everywhere."

The app is now available to all interested individuals and students free of charge in the App Store (Apple) and Google Play Store (Android). Additional features include:

·      Script download for learning in offline mode.

·      Marking of the last reading position for all scripts

·      Intelligent entry points via Homescreen (web)

·      Easy-to-read note view on the tablet

·      Fast scrolling thanks to Fast Book Navigation

·      Integrated keyword search

·      Synchronisation across devices

·      Feedback function

·      German and English as supported languages
