November 9, 2023. Germany’s IU International University of Applied Sciences (IU) has successfully adopted the FOLIO Library Services Platform (LSP) with implementation support from EBSCO Information Services (EBSCO), making it the first and largest in the country to adopt the LSP using hosting and support through EBSCO FOLIO Services.
IU pursues the goal of providing people around the world with access to personalised education in order to grow personally and create more educational equality. Thanks to the use of digital as well as state-of-the-art AI solutions, students can further their education anytime, anywhere.
EBSCO FOLIO will share in this mission to foster inclusive, global, and accessible education by providing streamlined and innovative workflow solutions to help IU evolve to ever-changing patron needs.
IU International University of Applied Sciences’ Director of Library and Information Services, Ulrike Wunder, says FOLIO’s open, innovative technology integrates perfectly into the existing, multi-faceted library infrastructure and provides them with the tools they will need as the Library and Information Services of the future. “By incorporating FOLIO into our existing digital library, we can guarantee a smooth integration into the university's own infrastructure and use it according to our wishes and requirements. The IU Library combines and supports the outstanding expertise of its staff with intelligently deployed technology. With its open system and broad community working on its development, FOLIO provides flexibility and all opportunities for further expansion of innovation in Library and Information Services. With FOLIO, we are delighted to now have access to a dashboard that enables us to make clear, fact-based decisions through data analysis.”
EBSCO Information Services’ Vice President of Sales for Dutch-speaking and German-speaking Europe, Fred Wiltenburg, says FOLIO’s global expansion opens doors to libraries worldwide. “FOLIO’s growing international community works to create solutions that can benefit diverse libraries with varying workflow scenarios. This fundamentally collaborative and transparent community puts the power back into the libraries’ hands, providing innovative liberty to create the solutions they need.”
In addition to EBSCO FOLIO, IU International University of Applied Sciences will utilise EBSCO Discovery Service™ (EDS), Full Text Finder, OpenAthens, and a variety of Full-Text Databases and EBSCO eBooks™ to support the full spectrum of workflow needs of the library of IU International University of Applied Sciences and the research of the end users.
